Facts

The halifax JD144 fell down to Fairon, an hamlet near Barvaux-en-Condroz. Three died airmen were found on the spot of the crash, a fourth was discovered in the wreckage of the plane, at Deurne, where the Germans carried it, few days later. It was the Navigator Sgt Albert Tovey. Two airmen survived and were done Prisoners of War. Pilot Sheppard was buried later in the cemetery of Leopoldsburg. It is a great probability that his body was descovered after the war.
