The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which manages the use of the last Lancaster-type aircraft in Europe, decided that during a planned tour, the aircraft would make a detour to Rebecq. This measure was taken thanks to the intervention of the Group Captain John Dickon, British Defence Attaché in Brussels, in gratitude for the constant work carried out by the association "The Belgium Remember Them".
If the flight was initially cancelled, thanks to the work of the mechanics at the Coningsby (Lincolnshire) base, the latter could be operated with an hour’s delay.
After the ceremony that got wet as planned, the Lancaster finally appeared. For most of the people here, this was the first time they saw this kind of plane. A palpable emotion emerged from these exceptional moments.
Merci! Thank you! We Shall Remember Them!
