Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in Rebecq, a solemn tribute will be paid to the airmen of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Air Forces of the Commonwealth who died in Belgium during the Second World War. In particular, we will mention the crew members of 550 Squadron including that of the Lancaster JA712-QR-H crashed in Rebecq on May 28, 1944.
The tribute will also be paid to the Resistance fighters who helped the survivors of the crashes to hide from the occupier.
As President of the Association «The Belgians Remember Them», I have the honour and pleasure to invite you to this moment of remembrance which will take place in the presence of the Representative of His Majesty the King of the Belgians.
The ceremony will be jointly organized by the Military Command of the Province of Walloon Brabant and our association with the assistance of the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, a guard of honour detached from the 1st Wing of the Beauvechain base.
A helicopter detachment from 1 Wing of Beauvechain will perform by parading above the monument during the ceremony*.
Pupils from Rebecq of Rebecq’s Grammar Schools are scheduled to attend. A reception will follow the ceremony.
