33 Lancasters from 408, 426, and 432 Squadrons were joined by 83 Halifaxes from 419, 427, 428, 429, 431, and 434 Squadrons on an attack at Frankfurt. The crews were over the target at between 17,000 and 22,000 feet, releasing 288,000 lbs of high explosives and 427,000 lbs incendiaries. According to reports, some bombing was situated around a decoy fire but creep back brought the bombing bay into the city.
Some serious damage was caused.
The aircraft DS758-EQ-H was hit and crashed to Baugnez, near Malmedy. All the crew members were killed and buried to Hotton, except Lieutenant M Kent, USAAF who was tranfered to New-York, USA.
