Facts

Operation planed to Hagen. 267 aircraft, 10 losses. Clear visibility. A devastating attack with most of the bombing falling in the centre and eastern districts. 505 people were killed and 30000-35000 were bombed out.
Returning from having bombed Hagen, the Halifax NA166 was attacked by a a German nightfighter over Belgium. Few times later, the aircraft burning blew up.
Four Aircrews were killed in the explosion and the three other could have been saved by a miracle, the explosion of the plane having thrown them out of the plane which was still in the air when it exploded.
