Facts

The Halifax off East Moor 0:29 on 7 August. Around 2:35, en route to the goal and possibly following the attack of a hunter, loading firebombs ignited, the order to evacuate is given and all jump in the South of Maaseik, on the Belgian side of the border with Germany. Two men lost their lives, the rear gunner, Sgt New Zealand Wilfred John Gray (stuck in the plane) and the bombardier Sgt Harold Huddless (which apparently the parachute would not open). Both are based in the cemetery of Heverlee near Leuven.
