Facts

On 24 December 1944, Hawker Typhoon MP178 (squadron code F3-H) was lost during an armed recce mission. While straffing enemy ground vehicles, it was hit by flak at low altitude (below 600 feet) giving the pilot no chance to bail out, he perished in the crash. Aircraft crashed near Schmidtheim Germany.
P/O Breen was posthumously awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre with palm.
