IX EN559 as Blue 2. The Spitfire was brought down during an engagement with enemy fighters over Belgium near Ostend, crashing near Eernegem, 12 km SE of Ostend. At the time of his death Ronald Baker was with the 485 squadron RNZAF, Fighter Command. At the time of his death he was on his 204th operation.
