There height of Paal, an extreme corner of the "Land van Saeftinghe", but still on Dutch territory, a bomber was brought down - probably by Hans-Eckart von Bonin of the Stab II.NJG 1. It was the Lancaster LL720 "EQ-R" .
The entire crew was buried at the Antwerp Fort III in Borsbeek. The victims were F/L E.S. Shuichi, Kato Chang, Chia-Ning Bolt (24 years on Flight engineer),
F/O James Leaman (navigator, 21 years of RCAF), F/O John Bonneville (bomber, RCAF), F/S Reginald Wade (Wireless Operator, 26 years, RCAF),
T/Sgt N. Brown and Sgt Eldore Dramnitzki (gunner, 26 years old, RCAF). They were epatricated after the war to the Schoonselhof, after Brown.
He was American and was laid to rest between his countrymen at the cemetery of Neuville-en-Condroz. They belonged to 408 "Goose" Squadron, a unit that lost no less than four aircraft that night.
